| | Posted: | | | | The vast majority of my purchases are Blu but if there's no HD version available I'll still buy the SD version. Almost all the films I've bought since going Blu have had a HD version as well, it's definitely more TV series that have only been available SD. |

I just received three DVDs yesterday from Amazon (i couldn't hold my breath long enough for the BD).

| | Posted: | | | | I still buy probably more dvd's than blu-ray because of the price. i can still go to walmart and buy dvd's for $5 a piece. when blu-ray's are that low i'll only buy blu-ray, but for now i only buy blu-ray of movies i REALLY want to see and in some cases i buy both blu-ray and dvd like The Dark Knight and Iron Man.(only have PS3 Blu-ray player but have 4 dvd players in my house!) that way i can watch my favorite movies on any tv in my home!!  |

Of course, "HD is important" is also a something personal to me, e.g. I wanted to have Evil Dead 2 in best possible quality and therefore upgraded to Blu. | | Posted: | | | | DVDs for TV series, mini-series, although I did buy "Lost" in Blu happened to catch a sale and I had never seen "Lost" when it was on the air. Just finished year one and starting on year two, impressed, lot of great extras, the commentary track breaking/poping up with examples of what they are talking about.
If I go Blu on re-releases or double dipping, I try find reviews that indicate the transfer is worth it or the extras are special. Like the "The Searchers" on sale less than $8.00 and I've traveled and photographed that films location, as with most Westerns.

| | Posted: | | | | The onyl time I buy DVD is when it's either a super-cheap pawn-shop purchase or no DVD is available or likely to become available (i.e. most older TV shows). For instance, I haven't bought any Desperate Housewives because of the DVD only releases and am currently on the fence about Hamlet 2, which didn't get a Blu release for reasons I am not clear on. |
