| Posted: | | | | I tried DVDRegion+CssFree but couldn't get it to work properly on my computer. AnyDVD, on the other hand, works like a charm.
The problem with AnyDVD is that it seems to change the Disc ID, so you cannot add Disc ID if you are running AnyDVD. But that's a limitation that I can live with. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | I've tried a few programs (dvdxghost, idlepro I think, something else I can't recall) but find that AnyDVD just works best on my computer (still running XP, never tried "upgrading" to Vista after reading horror stories and not many nice ones). Yeah it doesn't work with profiler, so I turn it off. If I need to steal a car, errrrrr, make a backup, I just turn it back on. Love Nero recode, so much better than dvdshrink. About the only thing I use shrink for anymore is for disc info (audio tracks and subs listed, dual layer or not, and runtime). |

http://www.videohelp.com/ And you can't always get it. On the basis my laptops dvd drive is apparently cheap to replace people can't be bothered to hack it. It may be cheap but it's not easy to remove and put a new one in, especially when it's still in warranty | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

There's no way AnyDVD can do anything with a protected DVD (which is most of them) without changing the long disc ID that DVD Profiler uses. So AnyDVD will always have "problems" with DVD Profiler. I use it to check region coding and single or dual layer, but make sure you've exited it completely (no more red fox tray icon) before adding your disc ID's. | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." |

Profiler is a smart program, even if I turn anyDVD on after already having profiler running, it won't let me set disc info or add to ccollection by disc in drive. If anyDVD is on before profiler, I get the message that I won't be able to do anything from the disc and the opition to turn off anyDVD and restart profiler, or continue with disc disabled. |

http://www.videohelp.com/ I have done this in the past as well. (One of the two drives in my current computer is region free.) But don't you often still need a program to bypass the software counter in many players? VLC doesn't use one, but most others do...? | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | I've just started using AnyDVD and it works beautifully (I just turn it off if I want to scan a Disc ID).
FWIW even though it says there are some compatibility problems with InterVideo I am running InterVideo WinDVD and AnyDVD together and they work fine... obviously I did check this before deciding to buy though! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | I've been using AnyDVD for a few years now and it's worked fine on my PC, so it get's my vote. I've recently upgraded the firmware on my new DVD player and it's now multi-region, which is my preferred option now because I can watch all my DVDs on my big HD TV now. |

DVDRegion+CssFree and DVDIdlePro don't alter the original disc ID while in use with the program. I'm not sure how much memory AnyDVD uses in the background, but DVDIdlePro only uses about 124k. | | | Corey |
