Hi

I used the online collection to show friends and see what they wanted to watch on film nights, since upgrading to 3.o I have realised the funcinality has been reduced, so 3.0 is more of a downgrade for me.

So to the author of the software, at least give 3.0 free users the same functionality as all the previous versions, or this is one pointless upgrade. I'm not paying full price for one feature that used to be free, I'd rather go to alternative software or build my own personal database that can output the data to the web.

So sadly it's back to the old version for me, untill the new version has the same free functionality as the old version.

Plus I used to use this feature to back up my collection.

Hold off on buying two DVD's and you'll have enough money to register.  Version 3 is SO much better than version 2 that you can't say you're loosing out on one free feature.

Keep using version 2 if you wish, just add the new profiles manually.

Why pay for something that is free in a previous version it's false economy.

Then stay with your previous version and be happy with it.

Honestly: It cost a lot of time to program something like this. You'll see when you do it yourself (as you have stated).

What are you willing to do for free and give neverending updates for free?

Well looks like I might be going over to

http://www.flixster.com/

It's free, and works with my Facebook profile.

Their is also an API that works with Flixster, so I can get info from the site.

Beats paying for somthing that used to be free.

So it's goodbye to DVD profiler for me.

You have had a free ride for several years now.  You should be grateful instead of complaining that the publisher of the software has made a wise financial decision to protect his intellectual property and make a "real" business out of what was a part-time endeavor.

A $29.99 investment in this software with the guarantee of future upgrades free forever.....

Sorry, but I just don't understand how anyone cannot see the value in that deal.

Go ahead and go back to the previous version, but don't be surprised when all support for that version ceases and uploads and downloads to/from the online database and My Profiler no longer work because of changes to the database structure.  It won't be that long, BTW.

EDIT: Flixster????  Have a great life!

Ahhh, another war profiteer, eh?  You enjoy getting something of value off the blood, sweat, and tears of somebody else's labors, eh?  Take a hike, pal, and don't let the door hit you in the ass!

Don't want to part with the 29.95?  You can find my sympathy in the dictionary between $H*T and syphilis.... or measure my concern in microgivashits....
