FWIW one I was very pleasantly surprised by was The Returner (Ritana) ... yep, some bits are quite derivative, as are a lot of SF/Action movies... I still rate it though!

I had to look up Wild Zero and I think now I must buy it.  From an Amazon review

schultzy, im shocked  you of all people weren't familiar with Wild Zero, based on what I have seen of your taste in film

I redeemed myself.  I ordered the new Shinobi and Wild Zero today from DeepDiscount as well as Host from DVDAsian (though that one if Korean)

I agree.  As asian sci-fi goes, it was really solid.  Like he said derivative, with definite shades of Terminator/BTTF.  But it was well done, and entertaining.

It's all about Kurosawa (Kiyoshi, Akira is a given...)

Mamoru Oshii's works are not too shabby either.

Just watched Lady Snowblood 1+2. First movie was great, but part 2 was a waste of time.
