Rick, take up plug-in development.  It keeps you out of the rules area where things get heated.  And we're very civil in our own little area!

I look forward to the final release of the next version but my time in the forum will be very limited. Nothing so grand as an "I'm done" but if and when I do pop in I will just lurk. It's a shame too since I really do enjoy the hobby and the software and have made some real friends here.

I have to agree that it is a shame.  James, Rick and Mark are three users I have missed.  It's been nice to have them back, but I can't say I blame them for not sticking around.  James and Rick especially seem to get a lot of personal flack for some reason and it is just plain wrong.

Thanks mate :-)

Just popped in to thank Ken for updating the rules. After my calling him out on it this afternoon I thought it was the least I could (and should) do.

It is the polite thing to do after all.

Thanks, MadMartian! ("Thanks, unicus" was always so much easier...    )

Nice to see the the contribution rules are getting a bit of a spruce-up so hopefully things will mellow out a bit in the Contribution Forum.

(who am I kidding?  )

You can use Unicus if it is easier.  I will answer.  You will notice that I did not use m.cellophane or lyonsden5 in my post.  James and Rick are, well, easier.

Agreed.  I always think James & Rick as well and tend to just call them that. It takes me a second to actually think what their user names are.

In return anyone who prefers to call me Mark is welcome to and I'll answer to it.

As anyone can use my real name also when they talk to me, since I use the AESP alias (who is more an habitude than anything else) or my real name depending of the forum.

Thanks for the reply but don't worry about it Ken. You have publicly stated it is not a requirement to be polite. As I said the recent round of moderated posts shows exactly what is acceptable behavior in your mind. Unfortunately with a stance like that those who feed on bullying others feel they have permission to continue their ways. I see the trend continues in that same thread even as I type this. I just don't agree with you as to what is socially acceptable and what isn't. But it's not my company.

I know you truly want what is best for Invelos, unfortunately some of your actions show many of us that this forum is here only for when you need us to help you test things. Very little is done to make this place feel welcoming to the members whether they are old timers or new people. I really think your are hurting yourself with the new people...

Even all the work James did dragging all those polls into the new rules thread went completely un-noticed by you. I base that on the fact that nothing was actually carried into the revised rules and no questions were asked from you regarding them. At least not as of this writing. A simple "I'm not really looking to update them that much at this time" would have worked.

I look forward to the final release of the next version but my time in the forum will be very limited. Nothing so grand as an "I'm done" but if and when I do pop in I will just lurk. It's a shame too since I really do enjoy the hobby and the software and have made some real friends here.

I really need to learn to have a bit more patience (something my wife tells me all the time). I always think i missed the turn about a block before I get there, I call the pizza place to complain about my pizza being late as the driver is pulling up in the driveway, I switch lines at the grocery store only to find out the line I move to has someone digging through their purse looking for pennies. You get the idea. And here I find myself in the awkward position of doing it again.

As I was composing the above post not only was Ken working on the re-write of the rules but he had also locked the thread that I was talking about. In addition to that I can't help but notice how... how do I put it... quiet and poilte the forum has been for about 24 hours now, more of Ken (or at least Invelos') doing.

I am man enough to admit when I made a mistake and it seems as though I did here (I can hear my wife in my head telling me "I told you to just be patient and wait a minute" ). My apologies to Ken and to the rest of the forum for going off yesterday.

Today, this is a peaceful place to be

Hey, welcome back, Rick!

Not to worry, we're all human. And I can tell you this much that patience is not exactly my strongpoint either...

Yeah, the forums are peaceful now. Some rule clarifications that are in place now might help avoid some of the heated debate in future. No guarantees though - nothing is ever certain.

No worries, Rick. Great to have you here. Perhaps you were born ahead of your time...like by about 15 minutes.

Speaking for myself I can say no apology is necessary. I could use a whip cracking every now and again.  Just ask my wife.

If I was married, I would have had to ask for permission to purchase the Gigapan Epic Pro and provide justification/bribery for it.
