I know this has been discussed before. For DVDs, does AnyDVD and Profile Contribution Assistant report the correct discIDs? I know AnyDVD reports the correct discID for BD discs, but my concern is DVD.

Anydvd provides a different disc i.d. I turn it off before adding the disc I.d. When you turn it back on with the disc inserted profiler will not recognize it and ask if you want to add it to profiler. Click no obviously. Hope this helps.

So which is correct with AnyDVD or without? I just want to get this right. It was my understanding that AnyDVD corrects the Windows 10 update 1809 thing.

It remains a matter of opinion. With AnyDVD on, the DiscID read is the same as before Windows 10 update 1809. Whithout it, you get a new ID. Since no further Windows updates have remedied the situation, despite several requests, the change is presumably permanent  Therefore there is no right or wrong DiscID. It is not a unique, independant characteristic of the disc alone anymore.  Sadly, the DVDprofiler DiscID features (i.e. Add from the dB, or Find in your Collection) are now unreliable.

I guess I'll just keep using AnyDVD and submit alternate DVD versions based on my discID.

Currently, AnyDVD reports the correct Disc ID which was correct all the way back to 2007.

Microsoft have decided to create a fictional one which will disappear should they ever fix their issue with it.

Not the AnyDVD I purchased and own.
For me it gives a different Disc ID, but not the correct Disc ID

Check the tools from DJ Doena and myself (in Bulkedit) for handling some of these issues. If you have questions, fire away.

The one with AnyDVD is the correct DiscID.

Do what you want, but you should read all the posts in this message thread.
WARNING: wrong disc id with Windows 10 Update 1809

Then this thread Plugin: Add by DVD Disc Id that provides the answer of how to get the "correct" disc IDs 100% of the time if you are using Windows 10 or Windows 11.

DJ Doena and mediadogg have created tools that generate the correct discID 100% of the time, as discussed in the 2 message threads listed above.

Using AnyDVD seems to generate the correct discIDs for some people but not for others.
For me, using AnyDVD generates the wrong discID 100% of the time.

My head hurts trying to decipher this stuff. I used the latest version of BulkEdit and ran "Validate Flagged Profiles DiscIDs". I have a list of 273 flagged DVDs. What do I do with this? Is there any way to get the correct discIDs? Is there any way to use tools to insure the discID read by my Blu-ray drive are correct or not.

One last question and then I will stop. What can I do to insure my discIDs are correct? If there isn't an answer, which there doesn't seem to be, I guess I will not contribute discIDs (for DVDs) anymore. I will just keep them local which will not give me updates to my current DVDs and DVD children that don't match what is in the online.

How do you do that? I've searched all over, and I can't find this feature anywhere.

Interesting. I have tested a few discs, and for me AnyDVD and DJ Doena's plugin generate identical disc ids. So if I contribute any new DVDs I guess I'll use the AnyDVD disc id. But I hardly buy DVDs anymore, especially not ones that aren't already in the database.
