My edition of Piranha has a different cover layout from the one DVD Profiler has for the same UPC.  I submitted it, but it was rejected.  I'm not sure I've ever seen  the cover DVD Profiler has on any physical copy.

Submit it as an Alternate UPC and state in your notes about the different covers. Yours should be alternate UPC #1.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

I said it was an alternate cover when I initially submitted it, and I did submit it as an alternate UPC (although the UPC itself is the same) but it got rejected, which is why I'm asking.

I've got an alternate cover for Santa Claus (1959) as well that I'm about to go scan.  VCI's latest release that is selling at Dollar Tree is sky blue rather than red.  this is not unlike the alternate cover I submitted for Curtis Harrington's Ruby, another VCI release.

What's the UPC? Perhaps it's not enough of a difference to the screeners. Try resubmitting and leave specific detail differences to bolster your case. If that doesn't work, you can always scan the covers for your local database and just lock the covers down.

The one you bought might be a re-release, in which case the cover images should be those of the original release, not the one you have.

From the rules:
Quote:
If a title is re-released with the same UPC, but different cover images, do not contribute the new images to the original profile. This includes cases where a DVD was initially released in a slipcase, which was later removed. As explained in the introduction you may use your personal images in your local database, but they will not show online. Consult the alternate version rule section to determine whether an alternate version is warranted.

The relevant rules state the following for alternates:

Quote:

Updated re-releases of a title under the same UPC/EAN/Disc ID

Use for: Two or more releases of the same title with largely different cover images (e.g. Disc ID profiles shared among different box sets).
Use for: Two or more releases of the same title with significantly different content. (UPC/EAN only)

I'm not sure if the e.g. referring to disc id's in box sets for cover images excludes different cover images for UPC's, but that may be why the screeners rejected it.

Not sure if this was thrashed out in the forums at some point but maybe somebody can point to it if it was.

You have to submit a new profile, not try and modify the original one (736991-418943).

Your contribution notes should list all the differences, e.g.:

Update re-release of Pirhana. An alternate version is required because:
- Cover images are different;
- ...

Yeah, I'm finding similar issue with the new Lord of the Rings Blu-ray Extended Edition boxset which just came out - having different covers. When the main profile info gets updated - does it get propagated to the alternate profiles with cover variations?

AFAIK, after it is entered in the database, there is no remaining link of any kind between an alternate profile and the original used in its creation. In the same fashion, there is no link in the database between profiles of the same movie. This is why no update made to a profile ever applies to another profile.

Wigram, what you are showing is precisely what I did, and it got rejected.

No, it's not. Look, you tried to update the original profile, not create a new one.
